Read on for more details on how to apply. 25 Jun 2020 12:00:00 IST 7c2ea5be35e375b9856c78b67fcfe16d Feature Article
Good news for service providers: following a clarification request from Dublin Chamber, the Government has confirmed to us that businesses which pay commercial rates and meet the other eligibility criteria will qualify for the Restart Grant, regardless of whether they are a service provider or an office-based company. Read on for more details on how to apply.

The Restart Grant for small and medium-sized commercially rated businesses is still open for applications. Eligible businesses will receive a grant of between €2,000 and €10,000 through the scheme.

Yesterday, Dublin Chamber received confirmation from the Department of Business, Enterprise & Innovation that businesses which pay commercial rates and meet the other eligibility criteria will qualify for the Restart Grant, regardless of whether they are service providers or office-based companies. DBEI Assistant Secretary Declan Hughes clarified that the business categories outlined in the application form in accordance with the different reopening phases are for purely administrative purposes and do not restrict the eligibility of applicants. Eligible businesses, including service providers and office-based firms, should apply through their Local Authority.

This followed member feedback that the Restart Grant application form was causing confusion or putting applicants off, as the business categories it outlines do not cover all sectors.

The Restart Grant is available to businesses with a turnover of less than €5 million and employing 50 people or less, which were closed or have been impacted by at least a 25% reduction in turnover out to 30 June 2020. Businesses that are part of a chain managed by a single entity and non-commercial entities like charity shops or community sports facilities are not eligible.

Further information is available here and here.
