Chamber Welcomes New Dart+ Expansion Plans
Dublin Chamber welcomes the news this week that the DART+ Programme, which will see DART services extended to Maynooth, Celbridge and Drogheda, is being brought to public consultation. The addition of increased capacity and frequencies along commuter lines in Dublin is long overdue and will make the train a more compelling and realistic option for tens of thousands of commuters. We look forward to working on behalf of the business community in Dublin to refine these plans during the upcoming public consultation and to pushing for these projects to be delivered as quickly as possible.

Dublin Theatre Festival Programme Unveiled
The programme for the Dublin Theatre Festival has been announced. The festival will this year take place on a smaller sale than usual, but there's a whole host of great events lined up between the 24th of September and 11th October. Take a look at the full programme here.

PRII Launches Free Counselling & Advice Service for Members
The Public Relations Institute of Ireland has launched the PRII Membership Assistance Programme - a free confidential counseling and advice service provided by experienced experts that will provide a wide range of supports to PRII members. The service will commence from Tuesday the 1st of September and will be available 24/7, 365 days a year. Help available will include counselling, career guidance, legal information, mediation and much more. Tapestry Launches New Virtual Events Platform
Tapestry have developed a new Live+ virtual events platform. The company says the platform allows clients to go beyond simply webcasting or streaming an event by delivering an engaging interactive experience for delegates. Features include fully customisable branding and graphics to suit individual events. There are also opportunities in each section of the virtual platform for interaction between delegates and presenters. Find out more here.
Government Seeks Feedback on Biodiversity Activities
The Government is seeking feedback on what businesses are doing - or could be doing - to protect biodiversity and the natural environment. They've put together an on-line survey with a range of questions for companies that purchase, process or sell food products, and other companies that are taking positive measures on their premises in terms of habitat for wildlife, wildflower meadows, etc.
Today marks the launch of Geo Directory's Q2 2020 Commerical Property Report. The report provides a ten-year analysis of specific commercial property types, highlighting trends in the main urban centres of Ireland between 2010 and 2019. The report shows that the national commercial vacancy rate increased by 0.2 percentage points to 13.5% in June 2020, compared with June 2019. Analysis of 10-year commercial property trends shows a 12% decrease in the number of banks and credit unions in the main urban areas and a 28% increase in the number of supermarkets.
