Covid-19: Disappointing Update on Employer Refund
Dublin Chamber - and other chambers of commerce around the country - have expressed frustration to Government following the issuing of conflicting information regarding the Covid-19 Employer Refund Scheme. Revenue informed us today that the Covid-19 Employer Refund Scheme, announced by Government yesterday, will only apply to employers who have had to temporarily lay off staff and who are not in a position to make any wage payment to them. The clarification followed information to the contrary issued by the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection and the Department of Business Enterprise & Innovation, which suggested that it would apply to employers who had ceased trading but who retained their staff on full pay. We have called on Revenue to be flexible in its approach over the coming months and to work closely with other arms of the State during this critical time. If this issue is affecting your business, please get in touch.
