We are thrilled to announce that our AGM Dinner 2018 is sold out! The business dinner takes place annually to celebrate the appointment of Dublin Chamber's President. This year, Anne O'Leary, CEO of Vodafone will be taking up her post as President for 2018. 


The dinner is sponsored by Bank of Ireland and will take place in the InterContinental Dublin on Thursday 15th February. Speaker at this event will be An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Francessca McDonagh, CEO of Bank of Ireland. 

22 Firms Take Part in Successful Hong Kong Mission


A delegation of 22 Irish businesses embarked on a five-day business mission to Hong Kong this month, in a bid to strengthen links and increase trade between the two countries.


We led this trip as the secretariat for the Ireland Hong Kong Business Forum. The delegation held meetings with a mixture of Government representatives and Asian business leaders.

The purpose of the mission was to identify new opportunities for Irish firms in potentially lucrative Asian markets.


According to Dublin Chamber CEO Mary Rose Burke: "We're seeing more and more Irish companies coming to us looking for help in accessing new markets. In particular, there is a big interest from Irish firms in exploring the Asian market. The impending departure of the UK from the EU has made companies aware of the need for diversification. The opportunities for increased trade between Ireland and Hong Kong have never been greater following the news that Cathay Pacific is to start direct flights from Dublin to Hong Kong from June 2018."


The number of firms travelling on its annual mission was almost doubled compared to last year.


Firms that travelled on the 2018 mission included Bank of Ireland, Mason Alexander, Tourism Ireland, UCD, Chinnery Spirits, Olytico, Luttrelstown Castle, Intellicom, Dublin Airport, ACSK Solicitors, Grant Thornton, Clark Hill Solicitors, Hayes Culleton Group and CityBreak Apartments.


Ms Burke said: "Huge opportunities exist in Hong Kong for Irish firms - especially as the country also provides a gateway into the increasingly lucrative Chinese market. Very strong synergies exist between Ireland and Hong Kong that would enable us to share the knowledge and skills necessary to drive two way trade and investment links in the areas of fintech, education, technology, tourism and food and beverages."


The trip was co-organised by Dublin Chamber in partnership with the Consulate General of Ireland to Hong Kong and Macau and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.


Highlights of the mission included attendance at the Asian Financial Forum and a visit to the region of Macau to explore opportunities in the food and beverage sector.


We have acted as secretariat for the Ireland Hong Kong Business Forum since 2001 and are dedicated to driving links between Ireland and Asia through our series of events and regular missions.


Ms Burke said: "In 2017, Dublin Chamber experienced a 5-fold increase in the number of delegations from China. Over the past 12 months we've welcomed more than 12 delegations from China, compared to just 3 in 2016. We've also held briefings for members on Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, China and Hong Kong in recent months."

Get Involved with Simon in 2018

Dublin Simon Community are calling on you and your colleagues to get involved with our volunteering opportunities and events that run throughout the year. 


Make a difference to the lives of people experiencing homelessness.

Simon Room to Improve is a team building day which gives volunteers the opportunity to paint and decorate a room or area in one of our services, helping to create a homely and welcoming environment for our residents to live in. The main concept of “Room to Improve” is that a company will recruit staff volunteers for their project and choose a service they would like to help.


They work with us on a brief for the project and cover all costs of their volunteer day including paint, materials and soft furnishings. Room to Improve allows volunteers to create a new environment. By visiting a service and meeting people who are experiencing homelessness, it allows for a better understanding of the work that Dublin Simon Community carry out. It helps to build stronger relationships with supporters and donors, while creating a homely and welcoming environment for people accessing homeless services. It is a great team building day, improving staff morale and encouraging team work.

Calling all Golfers!

Our Annual Charity Golf Day has established itself as one of the best golf days around. The 2018 staging will take place on Friday 15th June at the fabulous St Margaret’s Golf & Country Club. The Export & Consular Services department helps companies to get goods shipped abroad, to register products in export markets and to visit export customers.


Services offered include:

•             Visas for your business travel needs.
